It is becoming more difficult to find reliable sources while providing so many ways for information to circulate.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being a journalist means delivering interesting and important information to people.

I can't think of one.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I would like a pithy from experienced journalists and a full story from newbies.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use Google Docs as my primary tool.

What's your favorite social network?

I like the features that Instagram features with so many amazing short reels.

No.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Keep it honest, but don't forget to make it exciting!

What's the best pitch you ever got?

I'm a journalist. I usually do the pitching to editors.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I love most books published by Haymarket.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

The most common misperception I see is that folks don't view incarcerated journalists as credible.
